Established in 1898, Cherrydale is on the National Register of Historic Places and gets it name from a large cherry orchard that was once behind the Cherrydale firehouse on Lee Highway.

- Cherrydale Hardware, 3805 Lee Hwy. – This is my go-to neighborhood hardware store and garden center. They offer excellent personalized service. You are always greeted by a store associate that asks you want you need and will go with you to get it. There’s a reason Cherrydale Hardware has been in business since 1938.
- Cherrydale Motors, 3412 Lee Hwy. – When my car needs servicing this is where I go. They perform excellent work at a good price.
- CVS, 3133 Lee Hwy.
- Giant Food, 3115 Lee Hwy.
- La Union Grocery, 4308 Lee Hwy. – A small neighborhood grocery and deli that specializes in Latin American take-out foods including enchiladas, pupusas, tacos and tamales. There are picnic tables outside.
- Safeway, 3713 Lee Hwy.
- Sun & Moon Yoga Studio, 3811 Lee Hwy. – A classic school of hatha yoga.
Cherrydale Library, 2190 North Military Rd., is a branch of the Arlington Public Library that is coffee-friendly and features free Wi-Fi. The library offers a wide range of programs for children (story times), teens (beginners chess) and adults (a variety of arts and a regular table gaming night).
Cherrydale Volunteer Fire Department, 3900 Lee Hwy., is housed at the historic Cherrydale Firehouse, built in 1919. Volunteers who supplement Arlington’s career firefighters staff the station.
Cherrydale about a mile from both Metrorail’s Ballston-MU and Virginia Square stations on the Orange and Silver lines.
Arlington Regional Transit (ART) bus route 53 via N. Quincy St., route 55 via Lee Highway and route 62 via N. Utah St. and N. 15th St. provide a convenient way to reach either the Ballston (ART 53, ART 62) or Rosslyn Metro stations during morning and afternoon rush hours.
Metrobus route 3Y runs directly to downtown Washington, D.C., via Lee Highway during morning and evening rush hours.
There are bike lanes on Lee Highway with easy access to the Martha Custis multiuse trail. The closet Capital Bike Share station is on N. Monroe St. and Lee Highway near the Safeway. You can find bike maps and routes at Bike Arlington.
Cherry Valley Park, 1731 N. Quincy St, features seven acres of green space, natural path and connections to the Martha Custis multiuse trail.
Cherrydale Park, 2176 N. Pollard St., is a small open green space with benches, a playground and a path.
Oak Grove Park, 4012 N. 17th Street, was updated in 2018 and includes a tot lot for ages 2 to 5, a climbing structure with slides, picnic shelter a playing field and a paved walking trail.
