Public school students attend Francis Scott Key Elementary School (including Escuela Key for Spanish emersion) or Taylor Elementary School, Swanson Middle School or Gunston Middle School and Washington-Liberty High School.
The Lyon Village Citizens Association is the local group that represents residents with the county. The association has regular meetings, and also offers a website, Facebook page and a newsletter, Lyon Village Bulletin, to keep residents informed.
The association hosts annual social events at the Lyon Village Community House, including a July 4th Parade and Picnic, Halloween Parade and Potluck, Spaghetti Dinner in November, and a December holiday party.

- Ambar, 2901 Wilson Blvd. – Hip restaurant that focuses Balkan tapas with outdoor seating.
- Earl’s Sandwiches, 2605 Wilson Blvd. – Serving sandwiches with beef, pork and turkey roasted in house.
- The Liberty Tavern, 3195 Wilson Blvd. – Widely recognized as one of the region’s top restaurants, I love “Lib Tav” for weekend brunch, happy hour cocktails and dinner. Lively first floor bar/lounge, high-ceiling upstairs dining room and pet-friendly patio.
- Nam-Viet Restaurant, 1127 Hudson St. – One of the last remaining traditional Vietnamese restaurants from when Clarendon was known as “Little Saigon.” Features a large covered patio and “Can-Tho-nese” style dishes from southern Vietnam.
- Rien Tong Restaurant, 3131 Wilson Blvd. – Thai and Chinese cuisine. I find myself ordering take out from here when I’m in the mood for Thai food.

Depending on where you live in Lyon Village, there are a number of cafes within walking distance, including:
- This Is Fine Coffee, 2607 Wilson Blvd. – A local gathering place that shows local artists and whose signature drink is bumble coffee (a mix of orange juice, espresso and caramel mix), a popular drink in Russia and Ukraine.

Kung Fu Tea, 3018 Wilson Blvd. – The menu features a wide range of hot and cold drinks including bubble tea, sweet and creamy slushes, flavored tea punches and salty and creamy milk caps.
- Northside Social Coffee & Wine, 3211 Wilson Blvd. – A comfy hangout with Counter Culture Coffee, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and quiches, baked goods and small plates in the evening.
Being bordered by Wilson Boulevard, there is a wide variety of stores and shopping only a walk or very short ride away for Lyon Village residents, including:
- Classic Cigars & British Goodies – Cigars, tobacco and British goods including tea, biscuits and chocolates from Bournville and Cadbury.
- Current Boutique, 2601 Wilson Blvd. – A consignment shop featuring women’s designer clothes and accessories.
- CVS, 3141 Wilson Blvd.
- Market Common Clarendon, 2800 Clarendon Blvd. – This large outdoor retail development includes the Apple Store, Barnes & Noble bookstore, Crate&Barrel, Williams Sonoma and more.
- Whole Foods Market, 2700 Wilson Blvd. – Natural market with an excellent seafood and meat counter, plus a large selection of prepared foods.
- MOMs Organic Market, 1901 Veitch St. – Small natural and organic market off Lee Highway with much easier parking than Whole Foods.
Arlington Independent Media, 2701 Wilson Blvd. – AIM is a nonprofit membership organization that provides training in creating video, audio, web and digital content.
Lyon Village Community House, 1920 N. Highland St. – Home to many annual events sponsored by the Lyon Village Citizens Association, community house is available to rent for meetings, parties and events. It has a kitchen, stage and internet access.
Lyon Village residents can walk to either the Clarendon or Court House Metrorail stations on the Orange and Silver lines.
Arlington Regional Transit (ART) buses including ART route 55 via Lee Highway, ART route 62 via Kirkwood Lane, ART route 77 provide a convenient way to reach the Clarendon, Courthouse and Rosslyn Metrorail stations during morning and evening rush hours.

Metrobus routes 3Y (via Lee Highway) and 38B (via Clarendon and Wilson Boulevards) run directly to downtown Washington, D.C., with stops at the Rossyln Metro.
Bike lanes surround Lyon Village. You’ll find dedicated bike lanes on Wilson Boulevard, Clarendon Boulevard, N. Kirkwood Road and N. Veitch Street. There’s also easy access to the Martha Custis multiuse trail. You can find bike maps and routes at Bike Arlington.
There are a number of Capital Bikeshare stations, including:
- 3130 N. Kirkwood Road off Lee Highway, near Walgreens and Tarbouch Grill
- 1151 N. Highland St., across from the Clarendon Metro station
- Fairfax Drive & Wilson Boulevard, across from Northside Social
- 1303 N. Fillmore St at Clarendon Boulevard, in front of Orvis
- 2285 Wilson Blvd., in front of the former Walgreens
- 2519 Wilson Blvd. at Franklin Road, across from Java Shack
- N. Veitch Street & Key Boulevard, across from the Key School playground
You are also likely to see dockless electric scooters in the area as well.
James Hunter Park, 1230 N. Hartford St., is a roughly half-acre fenced dog park that features a deep fine gravel play area with a waterfall, small splash pond and drinking water spigots for our four-legged friends and separate shaded sitting areas and gardens for all.
Lyon Village Park, 1800 N. highland St., is a very popular 2-acre fenced park that has a sprayground for kids, play equipment, a covered picnic area, lighted tennis and basketball courts.
